Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: As inclusion criteria, athletes must have at least one year of training, with a weekly frequency of five training sessions, of which at least three must be running, weekly training volume of at least 50km covered, and have been training for some competition for at least four months of uninterrupted season.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Will be excluded from the study volunteers who change the usual pattern of eating or exercise training during the study period, do not consume the amount of peppermint essential oil-based drink or controls provided, present gastrointestinal intolerance and do not participate in all the experimental procedures. If they have any recognized chronic-degenerative disease, be smokers and make continuous use of any medication. In addition, if you are in the habit of regularly consuming mint and its derivatives, as well as any alcoholic beverage, vitamin food supplements or those containing the active substances present in peppermint (polyphenols, flavonoids, carotenes and menthol).

| It is expected to find a relationship between the polymorphism in the ACE gene and the physical performance of the runners, using the method of collecting a genetic sample through human saliva. We will observe whether or not the presence of this polymorphism influences the runner's physical performance in their time to exhaustion, based on a comparison between the polymorphism and the time to exhaustion of these runners in each experimental and control group;It is expected to find a relationship between the behavior of oxidative stress and muscle damage after supplementation with peppermint essential oil and control. We will use the blood collection method to measure these biochemical markers. We will observe if the oxidative stress and muscle damage of these runners change after the test until exhaustion and supplementation with peppermint essential oil and control, based on the finding of a change in these markers and if the experimental drink influenced, when compared to the control.;It is expected to find a relationship between the behavior of body temperature after supplementation with peppermint essential oil and control. We will use the method of collecting this body temperature through an ear thermometer. We will observe if this temperature of these runners changes after the test until exhaustion and supplementation with peppermint essential oil and control, from the finding of a change in this marker and if the experimental drink influenced, when compared to the control. | — |
