Interventions

Forty patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) will participate this crossover study (one arm). There will be 4 days of intervention, consisting of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and aer
in the prefrontal cortex (PFC)
in both areas simultaneously and one session will be a sham/placebo. In all sessions, anode electrodes will be positioned on M1 and PFC of the cerebral hemisphere most affected by PD. The cathode elec

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Subjects with diagnosis of idiopathic Parkinson's disease given by a private neurologist, according to the London Brain Bank criteria.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Subjects with another neurological disease in addition to Parkinson's disease; subjects in stage above of 3 on the adapted Hoehn & Yahr scale; subjects with characteristics that make transcranial direct current stimulation risky (neural implants, history of seizures, pacemaker, epilepsy); history of orthopedic and/or vision problems that make it impossible to comply with experimental procedures; indicative of dementia.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected to find improvement in walking, verified by means of an accelerometer positioned on the fifth lumbar vertebra, from the observation of the increase in walking speed in the post-intervention moments.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected to find a decrease in the activity of the prefrontal cortex during walking, verified by the functional near-infrared spectroscopy, from the observation of the reduction in the concentration of oxyhemoglobin in the post-intervention moments.
