Interventions

This is an experimental single-blind controlled randomized clinical trial. Randomization will be performed randomly in the software https://www.random.org The study model is composed of two study stud
2) Evaluation of metric data: anthropometric measurement of waist, weight and height, and subsequent calculation of body mass index. At visit 1, 3 and 5 for both groups
3) Blood pressure measurement: will be performed following all the steps recommended in the 7th Brazilian Guideline on Arterial Hypertension. At visit 1, 3 and 5 for both groups

Age
60 Years to No maximum

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age over 60 years; have at least six months and a maximum of 10 years of diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus to be confirmed in the electronic medical record; be registered at the basic health unit; have a cell phone with access to an instant messaging application; have long availability to attend the study; and be able to understand, verbalize and respond to proposed questions.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Diagnosis of type 1 diabetes mellitus; being insulin dependent; having chronic complications of diabetes mellitus (nephropathy, retinopathy, limb amputation and diabetic foot); have mobility limitations; and not knowing how to read and write.

Design outcomes

Primary

The expected primary outcome is a mean difference in glycated hemoglobin of at least 1.5%

The expected secondary outcome is better performance on the diabetes self-care activities questionnaire
