Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Regular breakfast intake; overweight and with high body fat; adults 20 to 50 years old; physical activity level of mild to moderate; non smokers; restriction and disinhibition level less than 14 and without personal or familiar diabetes history.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Consumption of alcohol higher than 2 servings a day; use of drugs that affects the glycaemia or the energetic metabolism; herbs or adoption of diets for appetite and weight reduction; weight gain or loss in the last three month; recent changes in physical activity level; aversion or intolerance to foods used in the study; endocrine pathology, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, hepatic disease or gastrointestinal disease; presence of eating disorders; pregnance or lactance; probiotics, prebiotics or symbiotics use; and menstrual irregularity in the last three months.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Total body fat loss evaluated by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry and microbiota, after 6 weeks of intervention.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Improvement of biochemical, inflammatory, glycation markers and other parameters associated with health status by evaluation of biological materials such as feces, urine, and blood after 6 weeks of intervention.
