Eligibility

Age
18 Years to 60 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individuals aged between 18 and 60 years; transgender individuals classified according to gender identity as trans men or trans women; using or not using gender-affirming hormone therapy (gaht); with clinical indication for oral rehabilitation through dental implants; presenting good general systemic health

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Refusal to sign the informed consent form (icf); uncontrolled diabetes mellitus; active chronic or aggressive periodontal disease; continuous use of medications that interfere with bone metabolism such as corticosteroids or bisphosphonates; chronic infections of any nature; prolonged use of anti-inflammatory drugs or antibiotics; severe bruxism; current pregnancy or planning pregnancy within the next year; previous radiotherapy in the head and neck region; metabolic or systemic diseases affecting bone metabolism

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Evaluating the effect of hormone therapy on osseointegration and the healing process of dental implants subjected to prosthetic loading in transgender individuals undergoing gender affirmation. Differences in healing patterns and osseointegration are expected between the groups, particularly between individuals using and not using hormone therapy. Outcomes will be assessed through clinical periodontal examination using a millimeter periodontal probe, analysis of digital periapical radiographs to measure marginal peri-implant bone levels, and implant stability evaluation by resonance frequency analysis using the Osstell device.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Evaluating the impact of rehabilitation with dental implants on the quality of life of transgender individuals, considering functional, esthetic, and psychosocial aspects, before and after prosthetic rehabilitation. Differences are expected in parameters related to oral health impact and esthetic satisfaction between the pre-rehabilitation and post-rehabilitation periods. Outcomes will be measured through the application of a unified questionnaire, consisting of the OHIP-14 and a complementary instrument designed to assess the impact of oral conditions on daily performance, as well as by the use of a Visual Analog Scale.
