Age
18 Years to 65 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients diagnosed with compensated liver cirrhosis or with the presence of varices; liver disease severity classification as Child-Pugh A or Child-Pugh B; patients with a clinical diagnosis of portal hypertension; individuals over eighteen and under sixty-five years of age; volunteers with outpatient indications eligible for nutritional intervention and resistance exercise

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients diagnosed with acute liver failure; individuals with a diagnosis or history of malignant neoplasm; pregnant women; breastfeeding women; patients who are on continuous anticoagulant medication; individuals with a past or current medical history of multiple organ failure

MeasureTime frame
The study aims to identify the impact of exercise and branched-chain amino acid supplementation, with or without curcumin, on the clinical and nutritional status of patients with advanced liver disease. The primary outcome will be a gain of at least one kilogram per square meter in Fat-Free Mass Index, which will be determined by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry performed at the beginning of the study and after three months of intervention

It is expected to identify the impact of exercise with branched-chain amino acid supplementation associated or not with curcumin on the oxidative profile of patients with advanced liver disease, measured at the baseline of the study and after three months through the laboratory evaluation of plasma dosages of malondialdehyde, superoxide dismutase, oxidized glutathione, reduced glutathione, and catalase;It is expected to identify the impact of exercise with branched-chain amino acid supplementation associated or not with curcumin on the inflammatory profile of patients with advanced liver disease, measured at the baseline of the study and after three months through the laboratory evaluation of plasma dosages of interleukin one, interleukin seventeen, interleukin twenty-three, and tumor necrosis factor alpha;It is expected to identify the impact of exercise with branched-chain amino acid supplementation associated or not with curcumin on the liver function and disease severity of patients with advanced liver disease, measured at the baseline of the study and after three months through the laboratory evaluation of routine clinical exams;It is expected to determine the adherence rate of participants to the resistance exercise protocol and to the intake of the supplementation through the control of attendance records and telephone and videoconference monitoring;It is expected to identify the impact of the intervention on the intestinal health of patients through the assessment of bowel habit and the Bristol stool scale applied monthly;It is expected to evaluate the improvement in the quality of life of patients comparing the initial period and after three months of intervention through the Short Form Health Survey 36 and Chronic Liver Disease Questionnaire questionnaires;It is expected to observe an improvement in functional capacity and severe sarcopenia measured at baseline and after three months through handgrip strength with a dynamometer and reduction in time in the
