Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Increase root mean square amplitude the tibialis anterior, soleus, medial and lateral gastrocnemius muscles normalized by percentage maximal isometric voluntary contraction evaluated with surface electromyography. The surface electromyography was evaluated during the single leg stance test with closed eyes on firm and foam surfaces at the beginning of the study and at the end of the study. ;Decrease median frequency the soleus, medial and lateral gastrocnemius muscles evaluated with surface electromyography, during the single leg stance test with closed eyes on firm and foam surfaces at the beginning of the study and at the end of the study. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Decrease in ankle Joint Position Sense, it was measured in degrees of error from a preselected target angle, using an isokinetic dynamometer (Humac®-Norm). Decrease in ankle Joint Position Sense for plantar flexors muscle immediately after ice massage, compared to control group. ;No differences in COP mean velocity and path length. It was evaluated through the center of pressure (COP) oscillation using Humac Balance System, under 4 conditions of unipedal standing (10s) on stable and unstable surface with open and closed eyes. | — |
