Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Increase in albumin (g/dL) levels evaluated by laboratory examns in the following days: 0, 7, 14, 21 and 28;Albumin levels (g/dL) in the post-pyloric group on day 7, 14, 21 and 28 were 2.90, 2.85, 2.84, 3.06 and 3.21, respectively. In the gastric group, values for day 7, 14, 21 and 28 were 3.10, 2.84, 2.98, 2.99 and 2.79, respectively. Although similar values were observed up to day 21, the post-pyloric group showed an increase in albumin levels compared to the gastric group on day 28 (p = .002)

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Increase in transferrin (mg/dL) levels evaluated by laboratory examns in the following days: 0, 7, 14, 21 and 28;Transferrin levels (mg/dL) in the post-pyloric group on days 7, 14, 21 and 28 were 132.8, 141.1, 151.1, 161.9 and 162.0, respectively. In the gastric group, levels were 129, 133.1, 145.4, 151.2 and 144 at day 0, 7, 14, 21 and 28, respectively. Statistical analyses revealed that these increases over time were significant in both groups (p = .003)
