Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients undergoing elective surgery for simple valve replacement or myocardial revascularization with extracorporeal circulation at Hospital Nossa Senhora da Conceição, Porto Alegre, aged 18 years or older, in accordance with the Informed Consent Form.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The following cases will be excluded from the study: previous cardiac surgery; chronic renal failure (serum creatinine greater than 2.0 mg/dl); severe psychiatric illness; urgent or emergency situations; multiple surgeries.
