Age
18 Years to 80 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction with ST segment elevation; male and female; of different races; aged 18 years or older within 72 hours of hospital admission

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with diagnosis of renal or hepatic disease; cancer; age over 80 years; use of external orthopedic or cardiac devices; mechanical ventilation; pregnancy; cardiorespiratory arrest or cardiogenic shock at admission

Clinical outcomes were defined by the incidence of major cardiovascular events within 12 months of follow-up, including all-cause mortality, cardiovascular mortality, new acute coronary syndrome, new stroke, or hospitalization for heart failure. The incidence of new events was observed in approximately 13% of the study population, totaling 11 patients

Considering the inflammatory parameters, it was found that patients who developed new events within 12 months had higher interleukin 6 levels. Based on the assessment of oxidative stress, it was found that patients who developed new events had higher total antioxidant capacity. Regarding anthropometric data and body composition, it was found that patients who presented new events had a lower phase angle, lower fat-free mass index, lower arm circumference, calf circumference, adductor pollicis muscle and lower intracellular water levels
