Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Newborn with indication of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter insertion; at any gestational age and birth weight; without any congenital malformation of the upper limbs; no suspicion or confirmation of fracture and / or dislocation of the upper limbs and / or collarbone, detected by physical examination, performed by the researchers involved or assisting nurse, or through notes in the medical records by the evaluation of the attending physician. A newborn with at least one of the veins, right or left basilica or right or left cephalic veins, free of bruising and / or any lesions in the path of the right and left basilic and cephalic veins above the left puncture site; hemodynamically stable newborn, ie, with normal cardiac and saturation parameters and no oscillations. These data will be extracted from the records of each newborn and / or through the evaluation of nurses who are part of the data collection.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The exclusion criteria will be when the chest radiography is performed after three hours of cateter insertion.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The expected outcome will be the Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter advance in the right and left hemiclavicular region, through the right and left basilic and cephalic vein, after application of intervention of the Maneuver of the Elevation, protraction and lowering of the shoulder.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The secondary outcome will be the catheter tip location two vertebrae below the tracheobronchial angle (carina).
