Interventions

It is a quasi-experiment made up of 3 groups. It will be composed of people of both sexes, who have at least 15 teeth and periodontitis according to the 2018 Classification of Periodontal Diseases. Th
Group 2 (G2): 20 CrossFit practitioners who report practicing this physical exercise for at least 6 months
Group 3 (G3): 40 sedentary patients from the dental clinic of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) matched by sex and age for participants in G1 and G2. The clinical assessment will be performed at

Age
20 Years to 50 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Recreational CrossFit athletes who perform 3 to 5 workouts weekly; Professional Volleyball athletes; Sedentary patients at the Federal University of Paraná dental clinic; All participants must be systemically healthy and non-smokers, have a body mass index (BMI) of less than 30, and have periodontitis according to the 2018 Classification of Periodontal Diseases

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: People who have received periodontal treatment in the last 6 months; Present conditions that affect the research such as: diabetes, smoking, pregnant or lactating women; Use of antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and immunosuppressants within 3 months prior to the study; Alcohol consumption; Use of drugs that can cause gingival hyperplasia; Recreational athletes who train with the main objective of competition performing more than 01 hour per day and exceeding 5 hours per week of training

Primary

MeasureTime frame
We expect to find an increase in salivary Irisin levels in groups of physical activity practitioners, assessed through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), based on the finding of a clinically significant variation of 2.5ng/mL in quantifications between groups.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the reduction in clinical inflammation through probing pocket depth (PPD), considering mean PPD reduction (in mm) in pockets equals or greater than 4mm.;To evaluate clinical attachment gain through clinical attachment level, using full-mouth mean (in mm);To evaluate inflammatory component of the bottom of the pocket using bleeding on probing, considering the percentage of bleeding sites per individual
