Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Volunteers who have a previous history of allergy to the components of denture adhesives; parafunctional habits and/or temporomandibular disorders (according to the Diagnostic Criteria of Temporomadibular Disorders); uncontrolled systemic diseases, cognitive disorders; history of neurological diseases; ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke; traumatic brain injury; Parkinson's or Alzheimer's patients; salivary flow below 0.6 mL/min; who have previously used denture adhesives in lower removable partial dentures; smokers; alcoholics will be excluded.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The masticatory performance will be evaluated with the sieving method, and it is expected that the use of the adhesive will increase the fixation of the prosthesis to the ridge with a reduction in particle size and consequent improvement of the masticatory performance. ;The swallowing threshold will be measured by evaluating the number of chewing cycles and the particle size at the time of swallowing. The use of the adhesive is expected to reduce the number of cycles and the size of the swallowed particle.;Nutritional consumption will be evaluated with a diet diary analyzing the consumption for three days. The use of adhesives is expected to improve the quality of the diet.;Quality of life will be measured with a specific questionnaire. The use of adhesives is expected to improve the nutritional quality of partially edentulous patients.;The bite force will be measured with a gnathodynamometer, and it is expected that the use of the adhesive will increase the fixation of the prosthesis to the ridge with a consequent increase in the maximum bite force.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The oral health perception will be evaluated with a specific questionnaire, and it is expected that the use of adhesives will improve the perception of oral health of partially edentulous patients.;The masticatory ability will be evaluated with a specific questionnaire, and it is expected that the use of adhesives will improve the masticatory ability of partially edentulous patients.;The perception of the rotational movement of the prosthesis will be evaluated with clinical examination and it is expected that the use of adhesives will reduce the rotational movement of the prosthesis in partially edentulous patients.;Satisfaction will be assessed with a specific questionnaire, and it is expected that the use of adhesives will increase the satisfaction of partially edentulous patients with their dentures.
