Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome of this study is self-care, in its three dimensions: maintenance, management and trust. Self-care will be measured using the Self Care Heart Failure Index 6.2, validated for use in Brazil, before and after the motivational interview in patients with chronic heart failure, seeking a better self-care score after preintervention score.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The secondary endpoint of this study is the 'readiness for change', assessed by a ruler with a score of zero to 10, where zero indicates that the patient is not ready to change a particular habit of life and 10 means that he feels determined and certain of the change of a habit of life. The patient is given a paper ruler, numbered from 0 to 10 and marks as it is perceived in relation to the readiness for change (implementation of habits required by chronic heart failure). The readiness for change will be assessed pre- and post-intervention. The readiness to change is the state of readiness that a patient encounters in order to change a behavior (such as reducing the salt in the diet), evaluated through a ruler to find out what stage of change the subject is in.
