Interventions

This is a two-arm randomized controlled clinical trial with blinding of outcome assessors and data analysts. Participants will be randomly allocated into two groups: traditional training group (TRAD)

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Male individuals; age between 40 and 60 years; diagnosis of non-surgical degenerative meniscal knee injury confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging for at least 12 weeks; absence of clinical signs of mechanical locking or meniscal displacement; physically active; no participation in resistance training in the last 3 months; agreement not to engage in any other training during the study; provision of written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Previous surgery on the affected knee; clinical suspicion of bucket-handle meniscal tear with displacement confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging; fracture in the affected limb within the last 12 months; complete rupture of any knee ligament; participation in supervised training programs in the last 3 months; use of exogenous anabolic hormones; inability to perform the proposed assessment tests, including Y Balance Test, Lunge Test and isokinetic dynamometry

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To assess lower limb muscle strength, measured using isokinetic dynamometry, with peak concentric and eccentric torque values evaluated at angular velocities of 60°/s and 180°/s, before and after 12 weeks of intervention.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To assess isometric muscle strength, measured using isokinetic dynamometry, with isometric torque values evaluated at baseline and after the intervention. ;To assess muscle architecture, measured using ultrasonography, with muscle thickness and fascicle length of the rectus femoris and biceps femoris evaluated at baseline and after the intervention.;To assess functional performance, measured using the Y Balance Test and the Lunge Test, with performance scores evaluated at baseline and after the intervention.;To assess knee pain and function, measured using the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score questionnaire, with questionnaire scores evaluated at baseline and after the intervention.;To assess pain intensity, measured using a numeric pain rating scale, with pain values evaluated throughout the intervention period.
