Age
20 Years to 39 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: To be between 20 and 39 years of age; to be of both sexes; to have cervicalgia of mechanical origin.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Present a positive result for the klein test; acute fracture; spinal cord tumor; acute infections; malignant spinal neoplasm; frank disc herniation with signs of progressive neurological deficit; neoplasms of muscle tissue or other soft tissues; generalized congenital hypermobility; syringomyelia; hydrocephalus of unknown etiology.

The expected outcome was pain reduction by chiropractic treatment and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. The parameter used to assess the outcome of the study was pain intensity by the visual analogue scale. As a consequence, we expected cervical function to improve. This variable was evaluated by the neck disability index.;The results obtained in this study showed that chiropractic manipulation and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation were significantly effective (p <0.05) in pain relief in the studied sample, since a decrease in pain intensity was observed (visual analogue scale). The items of the neck disability index revealed an improvement in cervical functional capacity with a decrease of more than 10 points in the index in the groups treated with chiropractic and electrical stimulation.
