Lung diseases caused by non-tuberculous mycobacteria

Interventions

Intervention Group: 24 participants will be instructed to perform respiratory physiotherapy, using the Active Breathing Cycle (CAR) technique, which consists of the following phases: 1) relaxation and
2) three or four chest expansion exercises
3) one or two huffs (forced expiration) and 4) relaxation and control of breath. The technique should be performed with the patient seated, lasting twenty minutes. The patient will be instructed to pe

Age
18 Years to No maximum

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients at the Tuberculosis / MNT Outpatient Clinic of the Hospital Sanatório Partenon of the State Health Department; older than 18 years; who are able to carry out the exercises alone; using smartphones with Internet access

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Recent history of hemoptysis; undergoing regular physical therapy

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected to find clinical improvement, assessed by spirometry, based on the finding of a variation of at least 7% in pre and post-intervention measurements

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected to find an improvement in the quality of life parameters, as measured by the Saint George's Hospital Questionnaire on Respiratory Illness;It is expected to find an increase in the distance covered in the 6-minute Walk Test, based on the finding of a variation of at least 50m in pre and post-intervention measurements ;Expected increase in respiratory muscle strength measured by manovacuometry tests
