Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: age between forty and sixty years; individuals with localized low-risk or very low-risk, non-aggressive prostate cancer; individuals under active surveillance as primary treatment for at least three months and with no plans for radical treatments at the time of recruitment; prostate-specific antigen less than or equal to ten and Gleason score less than or equal to six; no previous treatment for prostate cancer; life expectancy greater than five years; medical clearance for physical training.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: existence of limiting musculoskeletal problems in the execution of the proposed exercises; existence of symptomatic and or uncontrolled cardiovascular diseases; not having been treated for any other type of cancer in the five years prior to data collection; metastasis.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
improvements in physical fitness indicators are expected, verified by cardiopulmonary exercise test for cardiorespiratory fitness, isokinetic dynamometry for muscle strength and dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (dexa) for body composition, observing the evolution of indices between the first and last week

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
improvement or maintenance of prostate-specific antigen (psa) levels is expected, verified through blood laboratory tests, comparing measurements collected in the pre and post fourteen-week intervention period;a reduction in the inflammatory markers interleukin-6 (il-6), tumor necrosis factor (tnf-alpha) and c-reactive protein is expected to be observed, verified by blood biochemical analysis method, from the comparison of baseline and final data;positive effects on the pleasure perceived by individuals are expected to be found, verified through the application of the physical activity enjoyment scale (paces), analyzed throughout the training weeks
