Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with absence of uncompensated systemic diseases affecting their caries experience with permanent molars and premolar with deep carious lesions involving the inner half of dentin (Radiographic examination); pulp sensitivity diagnosed by thermal test using refrigerated gas; absence of spontaneous pain history; absence of apical periodontitis checked by periapical radiographs; absence of pain to the vertical and horizontal percussion.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Teeth with cuspal loss; cervical margin of cavity in dentin and cementum; and advanced periodontal disease.

To compare the behavior of direct composite resin restorations performed after Stepwise and selective removal of caries.

Pulp vitality avaluation after 6 month of clinical procedure with cold air, percussion tests and periapical radiographic exam.;Presence terciary dentin visible on bite-wing radiographic exam after 6 month of clinical intervention.
