Eligibility

Age
6 Years to 13 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children of both sexes; with a confirmed diagnosis of Sickle Cell Disease - SCD through hemoglobin electrophoresis; aged between 6 years and 13 years 11 months and 29 days; who assent and whose legal representatives freely consent to participation after being fully informed about the project

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Children with associated diseases that affect the lungs and may cause bias in the results, such as cystic fibrosis or systemic sclerosis; children and adolescents with severe neurological sequelae that make it impossible to perform the proposed exercises

It is expected to find improvement or less decline in lung function and functional capacity in children who performed breathing exercises

Primary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected to find less cognitive decline over two years in children with sickle cell disease who performed breathing exercises compared to children in the control group
