Age
20 Years to No maximum

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Volunteers with one or more symptoms of anxiety, sleep disorder and TMD; both genders; non smokers; age between 20 and 45 years.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Volunteers outside the age group; total edentulous; users of total prostheses; smoking; history of alcohol or drug abuse; users of controlled drugs.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Expected outcome 1 Reduction of anxiety symptoms over the 10-week period, as verified by Beck-BAI questionnaire analysis. Volunteers are expected to score between 0 and 9, which correspond to a normal or absent level of anxiety. Reduction of the symptoms of temporomandibular dysfunction over the 10-week period, verified by the analysis of the Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (RDC / TMD) questionnaire. Volunteers are expected to have Grade 0 of chronic TMD pain. Reduction of symptoms of sleep disorder in the 10-week period, as verified by the Fletcher and Luckett questionnaire analysis. Volunteers are expected to score less than 1, indicative of absence of significant symptoms of sleep disorders.;Outcome found 1 Statistical analysis showed no significant difference for anxiety, sleep disorders and TMD when compared to patients before and after acupuncture therapy.
