Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Volunteers 20 years old or more; partially edentulous in one or both jaws who received a removable partial denture at the Federal University of Santa Catarina

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals with natural dentition without the need for removable partial dentures; those who have not adapted to new prostheses; individuals with a history of painful temporomandibular disorder symptoms; the presence of uncontrolled systemic disease; patients with mental disorders; cognitive impairment; previous periodontal disease with residual dental mobility; smokers and/or alcoholics patients; pregnant or lactating individuals will be excluded from the study

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The bleeding Index outcome will be evaluated by visually observing the gingival bleeding a few seconds after probing depth measurement. This outcome is dichotomic and the result is expressed by each tooth as yes or no. The bleeding index will be assessed at baseline and after 3, 6, 9, and 12 months of removable partial denture use. It is expected to find a significant reduction in the overall bleeding index. It is expected to find significant differences in this outcome in the different follow-up analyses. ;The plaque index will be analyzed by measuring the percentage of tooth sides disclosed by the disclosing plaque agent Eviplac or Triplaque. The plaque index will be observed at baseline and after 3, 6, 9, and 12 months of removable partial denture use. It is expected to find a significant reduction in the overall plaque index. It is expected to find significant differences in this outcome in the different follow-up analyses.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The Periotest equipment will be used to measure the degree of tooth mobility, expressing the result in the form of numbers, ranging from -8 to +50. The tooth mobility will be observed at baseline and after 3, 6, 9, and 12 months of removable partial denture use. It is expected that both the abutment and non-abutment teeth of the removable partial denture do not exhibit mobility throughout the entire study. It is expected to find significant differences in this outcome in the different follow-up analyses.
