Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: male and female individuals aged 80 years or older, proven by presenting an official document at the time of enrollment

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, walker, crutch, metallic knee and hip prostheses, visual impairment, wheelchair user

To evaluate the effect of six and twelve weeks of Pilates training using equipment on functional capacity, quality of life, balance, and muscle strength in elderly individuals aged 80+ participating in an extension project at the Federal University of Amazonas.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The effect of six and twelve weeks of Pilates equipment training in long-lived elderly individuals compared to an active control group on: Lower limb functional capacity; Quality of life; Static balance before and after the intervention; Hand grip strength in the long-lived; Peak torque (PT) during isometric contraction of knee extensor muscles; (PT) during concentric contraction of knee flexor and extensor muscles.
