Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected to identify the prevalence of bulimic behaviors, food addiction symptoms, and body image distortion in individuals undergoing bariatric surgery, verified through the application of the following instruments: BITE (Bulimic Investigatory Test, Edinburgh), TFEQ-21 (Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire-21), mYFAS 2.0 (Modified Yale Food Addiction Scale 2.0), the food practices questionnaire adapted from the Brazilian Dietary Guidelines, and the Bari-Test. For body image issues, the BSQ (Body Shape Questionnaire) and the silhouette scale by Kakeshita, adapted for Brazilian adults, will be used. Prevalence will be determined based on the cutoff points established for each instrument, by comparing data obtained preoperatively with those collected at 12 and 24 months after surgery.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected to identify socioeconomic and lifestyle factors associated with the study outcomes, assessed through a sociodemographic and lifestyle questionnaire. The observed parameters will include education level, income, employment status, physical activity.;It is expected to identify changes in anthropometric, and body composition parameters after bariatric surgery, assessed through physical evaluations. Variations in weight, BMI, waist circumference, and body fat percentage will be observed at baseline, and at 12 and 24 months postoperatively.;It is expected to observe eating patterns and practices before and after bariatric surgery, assessed using the food practices questionnaire adapted from the Brazilian Dietary Guidelines. Changes in the frequency of consumption of fresh foods, ultra-processed foods, main meals, and snacks will be analyzed.;It is expected to assess the association between bulimia nervosa, eating behavior and food addiction symptoms in candidates for bariatric surgery, using the BITE, TFEQ-21, and mYFAS 2.0 instruments. Correlations between the scores obtained from these instruments will be analyzed.
