Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria were: elderly women aged 60 years or older, those who independently maintained their daily activities through the Baecke Modified Questionnaire, elderly women who practiced only the Prev Quedas water exercise, without participating in another exercise program. physical and those who presented medical examination authorizing the practice of physical exercises.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria were: elderly women with diseases diagnosed by the doctor that compromised postural control, such as blindness or low vision, labyrinthitis, osteomioarticular diseases, Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease, low cognitive ability, previous history of stroke and fall; elderly women who presented two consecutive or more absences in the proposed training, without replacement, in the same week of absence or in the following week; elderly women with a history of falling in the last 12 months; elderly women with low cognitive ability verified through the Mini Mental State Examination.

Improvement of postural control in older women undergoing flexibility training associated with hydrogymnastics when compared to the isolated practice of hydrogymnastics assessed by displacement and mean velocity of the center of pressure, functional and lateral reach capacity and time spent in unipodal posture, from the comparison of the results between the groups in the pre and post intervention conditions.;Elderly women undergoing flexibility training associated with hydrogymnastics did not improve posture control by assessing the displacement and mean velocity of the center of pressure, ability to reach functional and lateral reach and length of stay in the unipodal posture. Elderly women who practiced only hydrogymnastics showed improvement in lateral reach ability for both sides and decreased postural control in the unipodal posture represented by the reduction of the time spent in this position. In addition, the isolated practice of hydrogymnastics has shown an improvement in the postural control measured on the force platform represented by the reduction in mean velocity and displacement of the center of pressure in the mid-lateral axis both with eyes open.;Increased joint range of motion in spinal, hip and ankle joints in older women undergoing flexibility training associated with hydrogymnastics when compared to the isolated practice of hydrogymnastics goniometric evaluation verified from the comparison between the groups in the pre and post intervention measurements.;The elderly women who underwent flexibility training associated with hydrogymnastics presented increased joint range of motion in the hip and ankle joints verified in all goniometric evaluation exercises involving the mentioned joints. The isolated practice of hydrogymnastics resulted in increased range of motion in the ankle joint verified in the right dorsal flexion and plantar flexion movements for both sides.
