Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Women aged between 18 and 55 years diagnosed with temporomandibular disorder according to the Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (DC/TMD); who have preserved cognitive ability to answer the assessment instruments; who agree to participate in the study by signing the informed consent form

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Women with previously diagnosed disabling cognitive, psychological or neurological disorders; who abuse legal drugs including alcoholic beverages or use illegal drugs; pregnant or breastfeeding women; with food intolerances or other systemic conditions that may cause dietary restrictions; with more than five missing teeth in the same hemiarch; with odontalgia or intraoral or extraoral lesions that may compromise masticatory function; who have used muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatory drugs or analgesics within 24 hours prior to the initial assessment

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the relationship between eating behavior, consumption of ultra-processed foods, and pain sensitivity in women with temporomandibular dysfunction. Pain sensitivity will be assessed using algometry, utilizing the Pressure Pain Threshold (PPT) in the masticatory muscles. Food consumption will be evaluated using three 24 hour dietary recalls, applied on non-consecutive days, and the foods consumed will be classified according to the NOVA classification. Average PPT values, percentages of ultra processed food intake, and scores on eating behavior questionnaires will be observed. An association is expected between higher consumption of ultra processed foods, maladaptive eating patterns, and lower pain thresholds.

MeasureTime frame
To assess the association between dietary patterns and self reported pain intensity. Correlations will be observed between the percentage of ultraprocessed foods and pain scores. It is expected that higher consumption of ultra-processed foods will be associated with greater pain intensity.;To assess the association between eating behavior patterns and levels of anxiety, depression, catastrophizing, and sleep quality. Maladaptive eating behaviors are expected to be associated with poorer mental health scores.;To investigate the psychosocial and dietary factors associated with pain sensitivity in women with TMD. Associations between LDP, psychosocial scores, and food consumption will be observed. It is expected that greater emotional distress and higher consumption of ultra-processed foods will be associated with lower LDP.
