Muscle Athophy in Elderly Intensive Care Unit patients

Interventions

The study is a randomized clinical trial for the same patient in which the lower limbs were independently allocated to one of the proposed interventions. Lower limb receiving control treatment (CTL
n = 20): Subjects hospitalized in general ICU will receive standard treatment with passive manipulation consisting of 3 sets of 15 knee flexion extension movements, considering 2 seconds in the flexio
n = 20): Subjects hospitalized in a general ICU will receive standard treatment with passive manipulation as the CTL group, but with a specific cuff (WCS Scientific Clinic Leg) placed in the proximal

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The inclusion criterion was admitted to the ICU sector of two reference hospitals in Belém, from September to October 2017, and to be admitted to the PM protocol, with the following parameters: Pa02 / Fi02> 300, oxygen saturation (BP) 90% diastolic (DBP) 50-120 mmHg, respiratory rate of up to 30 breaths per minute and absence of uncontrolled ECG arrhythmias.
