Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
With orthodontic treatment (VAS), using a structured questionnaire that should be self-filled, baseline and 48h, and 7, 30, 90 and 180 days after the orthodontic appliance installation. Pain levels will be measured using the Visual Analog Scale (EVA), a semi-objective scoring system characterized by a horizontal straight line of 100mm in length that describes the pain intensity at each end of the line (eg 0mm = "absence of pain "; 100mm =" worst possible pain "). This scale has been extensively used in health as an instrument of self-perception of pain in adults. In order to assess anxiety levels, the Trait-State Anxiety Inventory (IDATE) will be used. The IDATE presents two self-reported scales: anxiety as a state (IDATE-E) and anxiety as a trait (IDATE-T ). While the anxiety state reflects a transient reaction directly related to a situation of adversity that presents itself at any given moment, the anxiety trait refers to a more stable aspect related to the individual's propensity to deal with greater or lesser anxiety throughout his life.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary outcomes will be considered the motivation and apprehension with the treatment, through a structured questionnaire, and the evaluation of the Gingival Index, Gingival Bleeding Index and Orthodontic Plate Index, by a previously trained examiner who will perform the exams in a dental office . Secondary outcomes will be evaluated baseline, and at 7 days, 30, 90 and 180 days after orthodontic appliance installation.
