Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Families with at least one child or adolescent between 12 and 14 years old assisted by the CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Center) or similar service; at least one of the parents or guardians and a child or adolescent from the same family willing to participate in the program; availability to attend 7 meetings in 7 consecutive weeks, on the same day of the week, pre-defined; live within 1 kilometer of the CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Center).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Families who do not live together, for example, the child is in the care of others; families with high needs (such as drug addiction, family breakdown and serious behavior problems that could interfere with the group's progress); families who are involved in a program that has the same objective or that participated in the Famílias Fortes program at another time.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcomes are: 1) for adolescents, initiation of alcohol use; 2) for parents, score on the parenting skills scale, assessed through pre- and post-intervention questionnaires, based on the change in reports before and after the intervention, comparing the control and intervention groups, through the finding of a variation of at least 5% in measurements.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary outcomes are: 1) quality of the family environment among parents; 2) among adolescents: prevalence of use of alcohol, tobacco, inhalants and marijuana, assessed through pre- and post-intervention questionnaires, based on the change in reports before and after the intervention, comparing the control and intervention groups, through the finding of a variation of at least 5% in measurements.
