Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Prolonged standing period (on average 8 hours); women; accept participating in the study; belong to classes C0 and C1 in the CEAP classification

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Disagree in participating in the study; being in use of medication that could influence the formation of lower limb edema; cardiac insufficiency; renal insufficiency; hepatic insufficiency; thyroid disease; rheumatic disease

It is expected that there will be no formation of edema in the lower limbs at the end of the working day in orthostatism using elastic compression stockings, which was verified by comparing ankle (B) and calf (C) volumetric measurements performed at the beginning and end of the work period;There was no formation of edema in the lower limbs at the end of the working day in prolonged orthostatism when wearing elastic compression stockings. The values of point B at the initial moment without sock were 21.1 ± 2.2 cm, final without sock 22.1 ± 2.3 cm (p=0.0001 as compared to the initial without sock) and final with sock 21.2 ± 2.1 cm (p=0.0001 with respect to the end without stocking). It was not significant the comparison between the initial values of the initial B point without half and final with half (p=0,324). Regarding Point C, there was no change in the measurements in any of the subjects at any time

Improvement of symptoms that interfere in quality of life such as fatigue and lower limb weight, evaluated through a subjective comparative questionnaire of symptoms and quality of life in venous disease at the end of the working day without and in use of elastic compression stockings;There was an improvement in the quality of life of the patients studied, as they reported an attenuation of symptoms such as fatigue, weight and pain at the end of the workday when they answered the subjective questionnaire after using compressive elastic stockings (VEINES-QOL, p=0.0001 ) and (VEINES-Sym; p=0.0001). Tests were carried out to verify the effects of the use of socks on the limitation imposed to the typical labor, domestic and social or leisure activities in hairdressers working in orthostatism. One can observe an improvement in the limitation on labor activities (p=0.0001), domestic (p=0.008) and leisure or social standing (p=0.0001), while there was no change in the limitation on social activities or leisure (p=0,317)
