Eligibility

Age
15 Years to 60 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Have a diagnosis of Down syndrome; be between the ages of ten to sixty years;does not have moderate to severe hearing loss that would impair communication and therefore the dental care; do not present severe visual problems that could impair the performance of the proposed procedures;presence of at least 4 (four) teeth in the oral cavity, with at least one teeth per hemiarch (excluding third molars); patients diagnosed with infectious periodontal disease.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Smokers;chronic use of alcohol (alcóolatras); women undergoing menopause; pregnant or lactating women; edentulous patients; uncontrolled Diabetes mellitus; uncontrolled Hyperthyroidism; unstable Angina pectoris; severe untreated or uncontrolled Hypertension (PA>200/115mmHg); illicit drug users.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Reduction on probing depthin at least 1 mm and gain of clinical attachment level both measured by periodontal probing.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary outcomes are not expected.
