Interventions

This is a randomized clinical trial, longitudinal in nature, with two intervention groups (control and experimental). Experimental group: 17 adult patients of both sexes, over 18 years of age, who wil
evaluation of changes in the dimensions of the residual ridge that will be carried out before the installation of the prosthesis, and at 12 and 24 months after the installation of the prosthesis using
assessments of chewing function, as well as quality of life-related to oral health and patient satisfaction that will be carried out at 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 months

Eligibility

Age
18 Years to No maximum

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients, over 18 years of age; both sexes; patients who require rehabilitation with conventional maxillary total dentures and mandibular kennedy class I removable partial dentures

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who present signs or symptoms of temporomandibular disorder; parafunctional habits; severe periodontitis; physical or cognitive limitations that prevent assessments and regular oral hygiene from being carried out; uncontrolled systemic diseases that prevent the completion of some stage of treatment; the impossibility of attending pre-determined appointments for evaluations

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Removable partial denture infrastructures in polyether-ether-ketone are expected to provide periodontal conditions equal to or better than those observed in patients rehabilitated with cobalt-chromium infrastructures

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Polyether-ether-ketone removable partial denture infrastructures are expected to present clinical and functional performance equal to or superior to cobalt-chromium prostheses
