Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria were: aged 50 years or older; controlled hypertension (<140/90 mmHg); and medical release for physical exercise.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Subjects were excluded if they had participated in an aerobic and/or resistance training program in the previous 6 months; presented congestive heart failure; recent myocardial infarction; or joint or muscular limitations that compromised the movements in any of the exercises; did not meet the minimum of 85% of the total number of sessions planned.

Blood Pressure Reduction of the elderly hypertensive patients, assessment of resting blood pressure, measured from an automatic device, from a reduction of 5% in systolic blood pressure and 3% in diastolic blood pressure in the post-training values compared to the pre-training values.
