18 Years to 60 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Volunteers diagnosed with depression, both sexes, between 18 and 60 years old, both sexes, with stable use of antidepressants and no change in the treatment plan in the last 2 months, with weight within the limit of variation of 15% of the weight considered normal for men and women.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals with associated psychiatric clinical conditions or other clinically unstable pathologies, alcohol and/or illicit substance abuse, gastrointestinal disease, pregnant or trying to get pregnant and individuals with surgery planned within the next 6 months were excluded from the research.

We hope to find evidence that magnesium chloride supplementation has a positive effect on the alpha bands of the prefrontal cortex and on the quality of life in individuals with a clinical diagnosis of depression, verified by recording brain electrical activity through an electroencephalogram exam. and application of a generic health and quality of life assessment questionnaire SF 36 before and after treatment.;It was observed that oral intake of two 250 mg tablets twice a day, daily, for a period of 2 months, was able to generate a significant difference in the relative power of alpha activity in the left cerebral hemisphere in the intervention group compared to the control group. after supplementation, in relation to quality of life, a result suggestive of an increase in the score referring to the emotional aspects domain of the SF-36 instrument was observed,
