Age
18 Years to 59 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: adult individuals; of both sexes; aged between 18 and 59 years; with a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than or equal to 40 or greater than or equal to 35 with morbidities associated with obesity such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, dyslipidemia; who will undergo gastric bypass bariatric surgery treatment, and who will be regularly monitored by the research team

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: individuals who have a medical diagnosis of consumptive diseases such as stage 3, 4 or 5 chronic kidney disease; acute or chronic pancreatitis; severe acute infections; individuals who report the use of narcotic drugs and who are using vitamin or mineral supplements during the study period; or who have special physical conditions that interfere directly, causing errors in interpretation of the parameters investigated

MeasureTime frame
It is hoped that spirulina platensis supplementation will reduce the level of inflammation and mitochondrial oxidation, as verified by laboratory tests, where it is hoped to observe a reduction in inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein, pro-inflammatory interleukins and OXYMITO; an improvement in the metabolic profile is also expected, as analyzed by biochemical and hormonal tests, where total cholesterol and fractions, aminotransferases, glycated hemoglin, urea, creatinine and vitamin D values are expected to be within normal ranges; spirulina platensis is expected to promote greater preservation of lean mass and greater loss of fat, as seen by body composition assessment, where an increase in the proportion of lean mass in relation to fat mass is expected to be observed
