Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The study participants were: People living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA) 18 years old or older; PLHA who received healthcare services at FMT or the four SAEs; and PLHA who had had at least one visit at any of these health centers.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The study did not interview patients who were visiting the health center for the first time at the time of the interview. The reason for excluding these new users is that patient satisfaction questions corresponded to the last consultation, which would be irrelevant to patients who were visiting the health center for the first time. The study also excluded patients younger than 18 years.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Patients' positive assessment of the quality of services at FMT and the SAEs, as measured through the questionnaire and verified by at least 70% of patients rating services as good or excellent; The study verified patients' positive assessment, with 82% of participants qualifying the services at FMT and the SAEs as good or excellent

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Verification of the proportion of patients who initiated ART within 90 days after diagnosis, as established by the Ministry of Health, as measured through the questionnaire and the patients' first CD4 count, of at least 90% of patients; The study showed that the proportion of patients initiating ART within 90 days was lower than expected (63%; p: 0.024);Difference in the assessment of FMT and SAE patients of the services as good or excellent, as measured through the questionnaire and verified by a statistically significant difference; The study verified a statistically better assessment among SAE patients (86%) than a among FMT patients (81%) (p-value: 0.0172);Verification of health center location, wait time, and quality of communication with health staff as characteristics associated with higher levels of satisfaction, as measured through the questionnaire and tested through the multiple regression model.;The study verified that convenient locations (aOR: 1.68; p<0.001), short wait times (aOR: 2.49; p<0.001), and good communication with health staff (aOR: 1.50; p: 0.040) increase the likelihood of being satisfied with health services;Positive correlation between the level of patient satisfaction, as measured through the questionnaire, and adherence to ART, as measured through the patients' viral load; The study verified a positive correlation between satisfaction and adherence to ART, showing that the likelihood of adhering to treatment increases when the patient is satisfied with health services (aOR: 1.28; p: 0.0370)
