Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Natural products could lead to altered soft and mineralized tissue parameters. 24 hours after extraction, a sample was collected from the socket, RNA was extracted with TRIzol and converted into cDNA to evaluate the effects of two dietary supplements on growth, inflammatory and coagulation factors using qRT-PCR. 60 days after tooth extraction, a bone sample was obtained, fixed in 10% buffered formalin and demineralized by 0.5 M EDTA pH 7.6. Samples were stained in H&E for morphology, PSR to evaluate the organization/maturation of collagen and TRAP for osteoclast counts. Evaluations of growth factors and bone histology will begin within 2 weeks after collection of all samples.;qRT-PCR revealed that the proanthocyanidin group had a statistically significant decrease in the growth factors TGFb-1 (0,61 +- 0,07) and PDGF (0,26 +- 0,07) and in the inflammatory markers IL1-b (0,79 +- 0,17), CXCL2 (0,46 +- 0,07) e IL-6 (0,35 +- 0,1). Naringenin/hesperidin showed an increase in the coagulation factor VWF (2,04 +- 0,44). Histological analyses showed a clear decrease in collagen density (28,8%), bone maturation (66,2%), increased osteoclast density (1,02 + 0,13) and abundant presence of platelets and loose connective tissue in Naringenin/hesperidin group.
