Conditions

Ankle sprain

Interventions

Surveys and Questionnaires, and Exercise Test. All 40 participants (independent of the group) will sign the Informed Consent Term (TCLE). All 40 volunteers will first fill out the identification form
then the EP assessments will be performed in the following order: Computed dynamic posturography, BESS and MSEBT, with a 5-minute interval between each test.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: According to the International Ankle Consortium (GRIBBLE et al., 2013b): Group control: No history of ankle sprain; Sign the free informed consent form (TCLE). ICT Group: History of ankle sprain, the first being for at least 12 months with inflammatory signs, in addition to interrupting physical activity for at least one day and the last episode for at least 3 months; Feeling of falsehood without resulting in sprain and / or recurrent sprain (two episodes in the last 6 months) and / or sensation of instability confirmed by validated questionnaires (IdFAI score ?11; CAIT score ?24; 5 questions, including question one); Sign the free informed consent form (TCLE).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The exclusion criteria of the study will be according to the International Ankle Consortium (GRIBBLE et al., 2013b) and will be the same for both groups: History of lower limb surgery; History of fractures in the lower limbs that required realignment; Have suffered acute musculoskeletal injury to lower limbs resulting in withdrawal of physical activity for at least one day in the last 3 months.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
10% difference in muscle strength between groups studied, determined by dynamometry, in Newtons.;Difference of 10% in the range of motion between the groups studied, determined by the Lunge test, in centimeters.;Difference of 10% in the questionnaire scores for function among the groups studied, determined through the CAIT, FAOS and FAAM, in points.;10% difference in back balance between the groups studied, determined by computer posturology or Y-balance test, in centimeters, or in the BESS test, in seconds.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
There will be no secondary outcome.
