Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder - ASD; aged 6 to 14 years; of both sexes; who needed oral hygiene guidance and who had not attended dental services for at least three months before the start of the study
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Children and adolescents who did not allow clinical examination; wore fixed orthodontic appliances; who had cleft lip and palate; they used medication with side effects in the oral cavity; whose caregivers were under eighteen years of age; those whose caregivers had performed this function for less than three months; or did not know how to read or write
