Interventions

The intervention will consist of maintenance alongside the parturient, providing the support in three different dimensions: physical comfort (massage in the lumbosacral region and in the upper and low
emotional support (continuous empathic and welcoming presence, providing encouragement and security, seeking to assist the parturient in identifying their emotions and bodily sensations)
and information support (information on the evolution of labor, ensuring the normality of the process, responding to the main doubts and favoring communication between the mother and the child). In re

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Expected results: greater satisfaction with the experience of labor; increase in oxytocin level in relation to the control group; increase in the serotonin level in relation to the control group; increase in the level of beta-endorphin in relation to the control group; decrease in cortisol level in relation to the control group; decrease in the level of adrenaline and noradrenaline in relation to the control group

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Doula's continued support is expected to have a positive impact on women's perception of care received and delivery, on obstetric and neonatal outcomes, as well as on endogenous hormone release and reduced levels of stress, since reduced levels of cortisol are associated with an adequate production of the hormones involved in parturition.
