This is a parallel-group (1:1) blinded randomized controlled trial protocol comparing two exercise programs for runners with Achilles tendinopathy aged 18 to 60 years. Participants will be divided int

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Amateur runners aged 18 to 60; male; with a clinical diagnosis of tendinopathy of the middle portion of the Achilles tendon

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusively insertional Achilles tendinopathy; washout period of less than 4 weeks from other treatments; use of corticosteroid injections in the Achilles tendon region or use of fluoroquinolone antibiotics in the last 12 months; other injuries to the affected lower limb in the last 3 months; musculoskeletal surgery on the spine or lower limbs in the last 12 months; history of Achilles tendon rupture and systemic diseases that may interfere with rehabilitation

MeasureTime frame
When assessing disability and severity of Achilles tendon symptoms, it is expected to find an improvement greater than 14 points on the Victorian Institute of Sport Assessment-Achilles (VISA-A) questionnaire;When assessing pain, it is expected to find improvements greater than or equal to 3 points on the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS)

MeasureTime frame
When measuring the maximum isometric strength of hip extension, knee extension and ankle plantar flexion, an improvement in torque is expected for all muscle groups evaluated;When evaluating the function of the plantar flexor muscles, it is expected that all participants will be able to increase the number of heel raises and total work during the single-leg heel rise;In evaluating the function of the plantar flexor muscles, it is expected to find an improvement in the performance of the maximum single-leg vertical jump during the single-leg drop vertical jump;When evaluating participants' quality of life using the Short-Form Health Survey (SF-12), it is expected to find an improvement in quality of life immediately after the intervention and six months after the intervention.;When evaluating participants' perception of improvement or worsening after the intervention evaluated by the Global Rating of Change (GROC), it is expected to find changes of 4 points or more
