Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individuals of both sexes; age between 7 and 79 years; hearing thresholds up to 20 dB HL at frequencies from 250 to 8000 Hz; auditory brainstem response with no abnormalities; presence of alterations in one or more tests of the behavioral assessment of central auditory processing for groups with central auditory processing disorder; absence of alterations in behavioral tests of central auditory processing for the control group without central auditory processing disorder

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals with external and/or middle ear disorders; more than three ear infections in the current year; history of otologic surgery; use of ototoxic medication; diagnosis of cochleovestibular disorders; diagnosis of neurological, cognitive, and/or behavioral disorders; inability to understand or perform the proposed tasks

To evaluate the effect of acoustically controlled auditory training on long-latency auditory evoked potentials in individuals with central auditory processing disorder, by comparing pre- and post-intervention values of latencies (ms), amplitudes (µV), slope (µV/ms), angle (degrees), and area (µV²) of the P1, N1, P2, N2, and P3 components under no-noise and noise conditions across the three age groups studied

To evaluate whether there are differences between pre- and post-intervention values of latencies, amplitudes, slope, angle, and area of the P1, N1, P2, N2, and P3 components under no-noise and noise conditions, across the three age groups studied, between individuals with central auditory processing disorder undergoing acoustically controlled auditory training and the respective control groups;To evaluate whether there is a correlation between electrophysiological measures of long-latency auditory evoked potentials, the results of behavioral tests of central auditory processing, and scores on the Scale of Auditory Behaviors;To evaluate whether poorer performance on behavioral tests of central auditory processing and lower scores on the Scale of Auditory Behaviors are correlated with longer latencies and angles and/or lower amplitudes, slope, and area of long-latency auditory evoked potential components across different age groups
