Interventions

Complex Decongestive Therapy Group: 13 individuals of both sexes with lymphedema in the lower limbs underwent a protocol consisting of manual lymphatic drainage
kinesiotherapy with lower limb stretching
free exercises for ankle and hip joint
triple flexion exercise of lower limbs
functional compressive bandaging of the lower limbs performed using tubular mesh, foam and elastic bandages
guidelines for care, hygiene and hydration of the limb affected by lymphedema. Aquatic Physiotherapy Group: 13 individuals of both sexes with lymphedema in the lower limbs performed walking exercises
stretching exercises for lower limb muscle groups
active mobilizations of the ankle, hip and knee joint
exercises to strengthen the triceps surae
squat exercises
proprioceptive exercises and mobilization of the hip, knee and ankle joints
unipedal and bipedal jumping exercises

Age
18 Years to No maximum

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individuals of both sexes; be over 18 years of age; present lymphedema in lower limbs in stages II or III according to Mowlen (1948)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with lymphedema undergoing treatment with chronic use of oral anti-inflammatory drugs or corticosteroids; with active and untreated infectious processes during study recruitment; who had thrombophlebitis; diabetes; skin rashes; open wounds; urinary and/or fecal incontinence and contraindications for manual lymphatic drainage and for compressive bandaging

Expected Outcome 1: Improvement in the concentration of the inflammatory cytokines interferon gamma, tumor necrosis factor alpha, transforming growth factor beta, interleukin 4, interleukin 6 and interleukin 10, as measured by laboratory tests and the multi-analyte method (Multiplex immunoassay method) , collected before and after the 20 intervention sessions
