This is an observational, longitudinal, single-arm, non-randomized study conducted during the pre- and post-competitive periods. The study will include approximately 60 to 75 male athletes from the Un

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Male athletes; aged between 14 and 20; registered with soccer federations; fit to participate in sports activities during the collection period

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Foreign athletes; individuals with less than two years of federation membership; athletes sidelined due to musculoskeletal injuries; athletes medically unfit for a period of six months or longer

The aim is to identify nutritional imbalances throughout the competitive season, verified through comparative analysis of energy consumption obtained from 24-hour dietary recalls and anthropometric and functional measurements. We expect to observe an average calorie deficit of less than 1,900 kcal/day, a body fat percentage above 15% for athletes in the Under-15 and Under-17 categories and above 12% for the Under-20 category, as well as initial physical performance below the expected threshold for age, characterized by a distance of less than 1,200 meters in the Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test – Level 1

It is expected that changes in the glycemic and lipid profiles of athletes will be identified at the beginning of the season, verified through biochemical tests of blood collected while fasting. Blood glucose values above 99 mg/dL, total cholesterol above 190 mg/dL, LDL above 130 mg/dL, HDL below 40 mg/dL, and triglycerides above 150 mg/dL will be observed, with the expectation that these parameters will normalize at the end of the competitive season. Elevated levels of the muscle enzymes creatine kinase (CK > 195 U/L) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH > 480 U/L) will also be checked at the end of the season, indicating possible muscle overload. In addition, the concentration of trace elements in saliva (iron, zinc, calcium, and magnesium) will be analyzed, observing possible values below the expected reference ranges for athletes in the evaluated age group
