Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with a diagnosis of head and neck cancer who are undergoing or who have undergone radiotherapy in a period of up to 365 days, of both sexes, without specific age limit, patients with radiolucent trismus, linked patients to the Cancer Institute of the Pompéia Hospital of Caxias do Sul in the state of Rio Grande do Sul

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with temporomandibular joint dysfunction prior to the diagnosis of head and neck cancer, patients with cognitive impairment that prevent them from performing the proposed exercises, patients who do not attend at least seven sessions of the proposed treatment or who give up participating in the research

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Presentation of the expected outcome is due to the increase in the range of motion of the mouth measured by an analog pachymeter, with correction of the trismus radius induced, reaching values greater than 35mm for dentate patients and greater than 40mm for edentulous patients, so that they are considered within normality. This measurement will be performed after applying ten physical therapy sessions.;Presentation of the expected outcome as pain reduction, presented through the method of analysis by the Visual Analogue Scale where the objective is to decrease as compared to the initial evaluation to zero. This analysis will be done after applying ten physical therapy sessions.;Presentation of the expected outcome for improvement in patients' quality of life presented through the Quality of Life Questionnaire of the University of Washington, reaching values close to 1200 points which demonstrates a totally satisfactory quality of life. This questionnaire will be reapplied after the application of ten physical therapy sessions.
