60 Years to No maximum

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Elderly, above 60 years, with type 2 diabetes; both sexes; with prior medical evaluation; whithout physical exercises for at least three months.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Health problems and / or orthopedic limitations that contraindication to practice the exercises.

Improvement in functional ability as mobility, flexibility, muscular strength of upper limb and cardiorespiratory fitness. The mobility assessment was performed by the Timed Up and Go test (TUG); to the flexibility of the posterior muscles of the leg and lower back, we used the test sit and reach; muscle strength of upper and lower limbs were evaluated by the arm curl test and chair stand, respectively. The cardiorespiratory fitness was assessed by the 6-minute walk test (6MWT).;Improvement in functional fitness and mobility verified by the Timed Up and Go test (TUG) from a statistical finding p = 0.002; improved flexibility of the hamstrings and lower back muscles verified by the test sit and reach p = 0.004; improves muscle strength of upper limb evaluated by the arm curl test with p = 0.001; and improved cardiorespiratory fitness assessed by the 6-minute walk test(6MWT) with p = 0.009.

Improved glycemic control. The glycemic control was assessed by fasting blood glucose and glycated hemoglobin.;Although no observed change in fasting glucose (p = 0,57), there was significant reduction in HbA1c(p = 0,01), indicating improved glycemic control.
