Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Young adults of both sexes, aged 18 to 40, recruited from undergraduate and graduate students at the State University of Southwest Bahia through verbal invitations, who agree to participate in the study by signing the Informed Consent Form (ICF). Participants will be randomized to either the experimental or control group.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Individuals with a history of alcoholism and/or smoking; history of cervicothoracic surgery and/or spinal pathology; blood pressure higher than 140/90 mmHg; use of medication within the last 72 hours before testing; diagnosis of cardiovascular, neurological, or systemic diseases; contraindications to osteopathic manipulation; having undergone osteopathic techniques within the last 72 hours; or having used beta-blockers or antiarrhythmic drugs within the last 7 days prior to data collection.
Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| It is expected to find acute changes in intracranial compliance after the application of the maneuver, verified through the method of mechanical monitoring by a non-invasive strain gauge sensor positioned on the cranial region, based on the verification and analysis of numerical fluctuations and variations observed in the ratio of peaks two and one obtained through the intracranial pulse wave morphology in measurements taken before and after the intervention. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| It is expected to evaluate immediate modifications in the cardiovascular parameters and in the regulation of the vegetative nervous system of the volunteers, using the method of continuous recording of heart rate through a heart rate monitor with an elastic band adjusted on the chest and the method of oscillometric measurement of systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure with the volunteer in a sitting position by an automatic digital blood pressure monitor, based on the verification of variations in the numerical indices of heart rate variability calculated by non-linear symbolic analysis and fluctuations in the blood pressure millimeter of mercury values before and after the procedures. | — |
