Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Female patients, aged between 18 and 55 years, with speech-language diagnosis of Muscle Tension Dysphonia and who agreed to participate in the study by signing the informed consent form .

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with cardiac comorbidities, diagnosis of thyroid disorders or who have undergone previous laryngeal surgery; neurological diagnosis or other that compromises phonation self declared by the participants; and who have performed speech therapy prior to or concurrent with the study participation.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Improvement of vocal quality, determined by perceptual-auditory evaluation through the GRBASI protocol and acoustical voice analysis, using Voxmetria software.

Secondary

It is expected to find an increase in the maximum phonation time, measured by the mean in seconds of the maximum phonation times of the vowels / a /, / and /, / i /, / o /, / u / and fricatives / s / z /. reduction of muscular hypertension and decrease of vocal symptoms.;It is expected to find a decrease in the report of muscular pain, measured through the protocol of self-perception based on the Questionnaire of Musculoskeletal Symptoms Nordic-NMSQ. According to the scale used, the regions of the body that will be searched for with regard to pain are: upper back, elbows, wrists / hands / fingers, lower back, hips / thighs, knees, ankles / feet. For this study, the following regions will be included: temporal region, masseter, submandibular, larynx, anterior and posterior region of the neck. The pain intensity will be analyzed by means of an analogue scale with a length of 100 mm, in which the subject should mark a vertical cross at the point where he refers to his level of pain. The left border means no pain, and the right border refers to the worst possible pain. An analogue scale was created for each region investigated.;Reduction of muscle hypertension, measured by the Laryngeal Palpatory Scale protocol, is expected to measure muscular tension level in the extrinsic musculature of the larynx.;It is expected to find a decrease in vocal symptoms, which will be measured by means of the vocal symptoms scale - ESV.
