Age
18 Years to 40 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: No resistance training in the last 6 months; have between 18 and 40 years old; both sexes

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Have a history of musculoskeletal injuries in the lower limbs in the last 12 months; present any health problem that interferes with the execution of the proposed exercises and assessments

MeasureTime frame
A significant increase in muscle thickness is expected in the vastus lateralis and gluteus maximus after 10 weeks of training on the 45° leg press, with variations in foot positioning and the presence or absence of verbal instruction. Assessment will be conducted using B-mode ultrasound, with a linear 10 MHz transducer, measuring the proximal, medial, and distal regions of each muscle. The primary outcome will be considered achieved if statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) are observed in the thickness of the vastus lateralis and gluteus maximus between pre- and post-intervention. Additionally, no significant hypertrophy is expected in the rectus femoris and long head of the biceps femoris.

It is expected to identify heterogeneous muscle hypertrophy among the experimental groups, depending on the foot position (high or low on the platform) and the presence or absence of verbal instruction during the exercise. The comparison will be performed through statistical analysis (repeated measures ANOVA) on muscle thickness data obtained via ultrasound, considering the experimental conditions as factors. The outcome will be considered achieved if statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) are observed in the hypertrophic response between the groups (LPA+IV, LPB+IV, LPASIV, LPBSIV).;It is expected to observe regionalized hypertrophy in the analyzed muscles, especially in the proximal, medial, and distal portions of the vastus lateralis, rectus femoris, gluteus maximus, and long head of the biceps femoris. This outcome will be assessed using B-mode ultrasound, with a linear transducer operating at 10 MHz, measuring specific percentages along each muscle. The outcome will be considered achieved if significant differences in muscle thickness are identified between different regions of the same muscle after the intervention period.
