Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Young volunteers; men; healthy; physically active; not drug users that affect strength or balance

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Volunteers who have musculoskeletal impairment of the lower limbs; volunteers with diseases (labyrinthitis, migraine) that compromise the balance

Our primary endpoint is the assessment of static bipodal balance, it is expected that after the massage there will be improvement in balance control compared to the sham and control groups. The static bipodal equilibrium test was evaluated on the AMTI force platform (model BP400600-HF-2000; Advanced Mechanical Technology, Inc., Watertown, MA, USA) at a frequency of acquisition of 100Hz, participants positioned themselves on the platform above of a foam (Airex, professional exercise line, made in Switzerland) barefoot, with 10 cm distance between the feet (EL HABER et al., 2008), arms relaxed throughout the body and eyes closed, so that there was more challenge in the assignment. Three series of 30s were performed with one minute of rest between them, being used for later evaluation the average of the three series. The platform registers the Pressure Center (COP), the variable measured in this study, COP velocity (COPvel), which evaluates the temporal qualities of the postural control, determining how fast the displacements were. After the pre-test the participant was directed to the place where he received the intervention to which he was allocated, he returned two minutes later to repeat the test.;The pretest values obtained from COPVel (cm.s) were: 5.0 ± 0.8, 5.3 ± 1.0 and 4.9 ± 1.3 for the massage, sham and control groups, respectively. The posttest values obtained from COPVel (cm.s) were: 4.5 ± 0.6, 4.9 ± 1.2 and 4.2 ± 0.8 for the massage, sham and control groups, respectively. After the intervention, COPvel decreased for all groups (p 0.05). Decrease of COPvel values mean that there was improvement in balance control for all groups.
